Words from a New York Times bestselling author Michael Levin
In this week's episode, we interview Michael Levin, New York Times best-selling author; he shares some inside wisdom to get your confidence to write a book, not any book but a New York Times bestselling book or your best business book that will change the world.
Michael tells us to find a job writing and play the game; it's all going to be ok; get sober soon, take care of unfinished business from childhood early, and don't waste your early days in life.
Being all In and finding your niche, purpose, and passion, find your true why that will push you forward to write your next bestseller book.
Michael always loved writing and tells us when you find something that you're passionate about, it doesn't feel like work. It feels like something you would do even if you weren't paid for it.
I think the biggest thing that helped me was just finding my niche and figuring out what it is that I do best as a writer.
Some Snippets From The Show:
Scott: That's great advice for our listeners who are interested in writing a book. So many people want to write a book but don't know where to start or what their niche is. Once you figure out what your niche is, then the sky's the limit, right?
Michael: Absolutely. And I think it's important to find your niche because there are so many different genres out there and so many different types of books that you could write. But if you can focus in on the type of book that you're passionate about and that you feel like you could really bring something unique to, then I think that's half the battle right there.
Scott: That makes sense. So once you found your niche and started writing within that genre or category, did you ever face any confidence issues or imposter syndrome? We've all heard of imposter syndrome before but can you explain what that is for our listeners?
Michael: Sure. Imposter syndrome is basically when you doubt your own abilities or when you feel like maybe you're not qualified to do the thing that you're doing even though everything in your career up until that point would indicate otherwise. So for example, with writing, there have been times when I've looked at my past successes and thought "Well, maybe this is just beginner's luck" or "Maybe I just got lucky with this particular project." But I think that it's important not to compare yourself to other people or other writers because everybody has their own process and their own journey. And so as long as you stay focused on your own path and on your own goals, then I think imposter syndrome becomes less of an issue.
Scott: That's great advice, Michael! Thank you for sharing that with us today! For our listeners who are interested in hearing more from Michael Levin, his new book ". . ." is scheduled for release later this year."
